Ancient Wonders to Beauty Treatments
Karen Goudge, Founder of Spa Travel
Ancient Eastern philosophies such as Indian Ayurvedic and Chinese medicines work on the principal that a beauty treatment is to consider the entire being - mind, body and spirit. Unlike conventional procedures, this gives attention to the cause not just the symptom.
La Phyto has based its holistic approach on the Chinese modality to both beauty and health to perform its treatments - drawing on the six climatic conditions: cold/heat, dryness/humidity, high/low pressure and the five Elements of wood, fire, earth, metal and water.
Part of the spa treatment is to receive an understanding of your Ayurvedic dosha (body type). After receiving mine, I am able to better relate to my discomfort of wind and sensitivity to the cold climate. My body type with dry skin is better suited to a tropical climate.
Following this assessment, I received a ‘ReBirth’ body treatment. This treatment was prepared in accordance with my year, month, day and hour of birth to balance my Biorhythm.
The treatment included:
· Climatelle Spray Lotions - red: Used when it is Cold. For dehydrated, pale skin with tendency towards wrinkles, desquamations, puffy eyes.
· Luminescence Serum Red - heat (yang): Poor blood circulation and cold scalp. Enhances cellular renewal and improves muscles tone.
· Tonic Clays - yellow: Earth for end of summer, nervous system and stomach-spleen. Revitalising, antiseptic, antibacterial soothes inflamed intoxicated skin.
· Moisturiser - Ceresal millet (earth): Used for those whose Energetic Biorhythm is Earth, at the end of summer for toxic, dry and dull skins. Detoxifies and soothes cutaneous inflammations due to toxins; revitalising; balances the energetic quality of connective and nervous tissues.
It was while bubbling away in a hydro capsule of hot, red-light filtered water that I sensed the sheer delight of comfort and indulgence.
